• OBJECTIVE :

Junkyard Wars was first inspired by the TV series “Apollo 13”, in which astronauts had to carry out in-mission repairs using only the available materials! In the midst of being an engineer, how well can you hold up against minds just as geared up as yours when you’re forced you pit yourselves against each other in Junkyard Wars! That’s right – it’s just as the name suggests. Here we put you in a similar position and give you a chance to think out of the box and create something from junk in the creative and innovative way you always wanted to. You’ll be left to some scraps and yourself to test your creative and innovative skills to the furthest extreme, just as the cavemen were back in the day. Think you’re smarter than a caveman? Test your machines against similar junk freaks to become the ultimate junkyard rulers and prove yourself this year at Mechtrix!

No, it most certainly is not. Any undergraduate student can participate in the event.

    Q. What preparation do I need to participate in the event?

No preparation is needed. But presence of mind is highly expected.

    Q. Can a team comprise of members from different colleges and years?

    Q. What if problem is too tough that hardly anyone is able to get through, will you disqualify everyone ?

Basically this event comprises of on-the-spot problem statement, so we will take care that they will suitable as per the time allotted for its completion. And if in case, everyone does fails to comeplete the task, teams moving to the next round will be picked based on the functionality and features of structure/model attempted and the associated degree of completion.

  • OBJECTIVE :

Gear up your brains, prepare yourself, and with a tint of logical thinking to create your own ‘Paradigm’! All you need to do is to devise a model or mechanism which will fulfill our pre-declared problem statement. Use anything that you can get your hands on, literally any kind of material you can. Design your model any way you want. Just bear in mind, your model must justify your victory!

    Rules

    • Judge’s and Event Heads’ decisions are final.
    • Only mechanical operations to be used. Any (electrical, electronic, etc) other operations in the model will lead to on the spot disqualification. Use of magnets is allowed.
    • Participants must possess a valid ID card and the receipt.
    • Team members may be from any year, branch and institution as long as they are pursuing an undergraduate degree.
    • No person can be a member of two different teams.

    FAQs

Q 1  Is submission of abstract is compulsory?

Ans: Basically abstract is to understand  mechanisms, energy conversion used by teams.

If any time is violating any rule mentioned in rulebook we will understand it from abstract,

And we will suggest changes to teams. So it depends on teams to send abstract for safety.

So teams can submit abstract even after 1st  of October.

Q.2)  How final score will be calculated for a team?

Ans: As per rule given in rule-book score1 & score2 will be calculated,

And final score will be calculated according to formulae:

    Total score      = (2/3)Score1 + (1/3)Score2 ;

Q.3) What is exact position of cube?

Ans: Teams are allowed to keep cube at any place in any direction

with particular orientation respective  to mechanism but

that position will be considered as final position.

Q.4) How much time will be given to complete the task?

Ans: Each team will be given a setup time of maximum 2 min.

In which they can take a trial run of their mechanism.

And for completion of task team will be given time of 3 min.
